Study Programmes

General Programme meditation classes take place every week during term time at many locations throughout Devon and Cornwall.

These classes have been specially designed to give a clear and practical introduction to Buddhist thought and meditation. The classes involve guided meditations and advice from the teacher offering Buddhist wisdom for reducing stress and increasing happiness in everyday life.

The classes are given by qualified meditation teachers who are all studying on our Foundation Programme.

Whatever your previous experience, everyone can benefit from attending the meditation classes and courses held throughout the region.

 Study programme

Foundation Programme is a more structured approach designed to provide a deeper experience of Buddha’s teachings by studying dharma texts in a thorough and systematic manner. Anyone is welcome to join this programme, but the commitment must be for at least one section of the book being studied.

You can join Foundation Programme at any time, the fee is £30 per month. This fee also entitles students to free entry to other general programme classes, lunchtime classes and retreats and half price on day courses. The programme is presently studying Joyful Path Of Good Fortune.

Programme Commitments

On joining the programme, and at the beginning of each new book or section of a book, each student signs-up to the following commitments: 1. to attend every class, 2. to prepare for each class by studying the appropriate section of the text and memorizing the essential points, 3. to memorize the condensed meaning (outlines) and/or root text of the book, 4. to sit an examination at the end of the course, and 5. to attend at least one puja (chanted prayers) each week of preliminary practices organized by the Centre, eg. Wishfulfilling Jewel (this enables purification, collection of good fortune, and receiving special blessings to make the studies and meditations effective).

Please call Anna Livsey on 01752 224 137 if you would like to join.

Correspondence/Home Study Programme Students enrol for one subject at a time and to ensure the success of their studies they are asked to keep the same commitments as students attending the live classes (see above) with the exception of commitment 1

Teacher Training Programme is designed for those wishing to train as qualified Kadampa Buddhist teachers. Through a combination of systematic study, regular retreat and teacher training practice, students gain a deep knowledge and experience of Buddha's teachings which they can then share with others.
